L... Is for the Way You Look At Me

What is my muse’s sexual/romantic orientation?

Gabrielle is heterosexual, she prefers and responds to the flirtations of the opposite sex.

At what age did my muse lose their virginity?

Gabrielle was fourteen years old when she lost her virginity.

Would my muse have sex on the first date?

Yes. If the mood was right, and both parties were consenting, then absolutely. While Gabrielle does not have sex just because someone is attracted to her, she will have sex if she is attracted to them and they want it too.

Would my muse ever ask someone on a date?

Of course. Gabrielle is part Veela, and therefore considered beautiful by traditional standards. A lot of men are intimated to ask her out so often at times Gabrielle has to take the lead and suggest going out, either to dinner, or drinks and see how where that leads

Does my muse prefer to be asked on a date, or would they rather do the asking?

She prefers to be asked out and swept off her feet, but knows this won’t happen too often as many men are intimidated by her Veela charms or her family, so she has to do the asking.

What are my muse’s fetishes/kinks?

In the bedroom Gabrielle likes to play pretend and likes to create roleplay fantasies as part of her sexual experience. She is imaginative and likes to bring that into the bedroom, along with costumes and props.

When did my muse go on their first date?

Gabrielle’s first date was at a muggle library. When she was thirteen, she met a non-magique boy with the most perfect hair. He lived close in proximity to her parent’s estate and they agreed to meet at the non-magique library close to them. It was sweet and they spoke entirely in whispers throughout and there was a lot of hand holding. The date ended in a kiss on the cheek but nothing more.

What is my muse’s ideal date?

An ideal date would start sitting in the pews of Notre Dame listening to the choir then going to one of Gabrielle’s favourite restaurants, walking along the many bridges in Paris and would end watching fireworks on the banks of Seine.

Has my muse ever been in love?

Yes, of course! Gabrielle falls in love almost on a yearly basis. She loves love, and being in love. Sometimes it does not work out, but Gabrielle does not let that depress her or ruin her lust for live. She will love openly and freely and hopes one day to find someone who loves just as much as her.

What was my muse’s last serious relationship like?

Her last serious relationship was with an older wizard Philippe Florent. He was older than her and Gabrielle thought him perfect and she wanted nothing more than to be his wife. He was suave, sophisticated, and handsome, and Gabrielle knew he would make a lovely husband. He did not see her a wife, or a mother of his children and he broke Gabrielle’s heart.

Would my muse ever get married?

Gabrielle would love to get married, yes. She loves love and wants nothing more than to be loved for the rest of her life by someone who is perfect for her.

Would my muse prefer a big wedding or a small wedding?

Big wedding, absolutely. Gabrielle has always wanted to be the centre of attention, and thinks a wedding would be the best place for that. She has always loved weddings and has been a bridesmaid many times. But to be the bride at her own big, glamourous wedding would be a dream for her.

Is my muse a sub, dom, or switch?

Gabrielle is a switch in the bedroom. There are times when she wants to take control, but at other times she likes to be the submissive and enjoys being seduced and taken care of.

What was my muse’s first time like?

It was awkward and something that Gabrielle felt she needed to do. Everyone else around her seemed to be doing it, and Gabrielle wanted to fit in too. Peer pressure sucks. It was awkward, but she enjoyed it and didn’t regret it.

Is my muse into monogamy?.

Yes. While Gabrielle loves love, she can only love one person at a time and wants her love to love her and only her. She can get rather jealous and anything other than monogamy would send her crazy.

Would my muse ever be in a polyamorous relationship?

No, she is unsure how that would work and it would not suit her.

Would my muse ever be up for a threesome?

No-one has ever suggested a threesome to her, nor has she ever considered it so perhaps a no.

Has my muse ever had sex in public?

No. And if it were ever suggested, Gabrielle would absolutely refuse. She considers love making a private thing for her and her partner.

What was my muse’s first heartbreak?

Gabrielle’s first heartbreak was not due to a romantic partner. Her heart was first broken when Fleur moved to England, leaving her and the Delacour family behind. Gabrielle thought her sister was abandoning her for a country unknown and never truly recovered from it. Her hatred of England intensified and she has never truly gotten over it.

What are my muse’s requirements for a potential partner?

Gabrielle would like someone who is kind and truthful. Her entire life she has had boys and men try to gain her favour by lying and pretending to her and she would like to avoid that in a partner. Ideally, she would like to date someone who saw through her Veela charms but she knows this may not be entirely possible.

How many people has my muse slept with?

Four. Her first, Philippe Florent, and two one-night stands.

Is my muse the type to sleep around?

No. She dates a lot, but does not sleep with every one she dates.

Would my muse ever cheat on their partner?

Absolutely not. She would be heartbroken if she was cheated on and she would treat her partner with enough respect not to cheat. She would hope that she would be in love enough with someone that the occasion to cheat would not arise, but if it did, she would control herself before she did anything she would regret.

What was my muse’s worst romantic/sexual relationship?

Gabrielle has been kissed many times without her consent. Due to her pretty face, polite demeanour and kind words many men think she is flirting when she is not. Some overstep their bounds and kiss Gabrielle when she not expecting it, but she learnt an arsenal of repelling spells if this ever happenss.

Would my muse ever date/marry/sleep with someone because they were rich?

While Gabrielle thinks she would say no, the answer is yes. She would absolutely set up a date or two with a wizard she knew was rich just to appease her parent’s expectations. They expect her to marry well, and Gabrielle does not want to marry just for money or fame.

Would my muse ever lie for sex?

No, who would do that?

Would my muse ever blackmail someone into sex?

That is absurd!

Who is my muse’s celebrity crush?

HARRY POTTER! HARRY POTTER! HARRY POTTER! When she was 8.

Who would my muse sleep with if nobody ever had to know?

No-one. While Gabrielle does not freely talk about her sex life, she does not regret any of her encounters, nor does she pick dangerous or scary partners.

Has my muse ever had a one-night stand?

Yes. Sometimes, it is fun to enjoy a night and not have to think about the consequences.

Does my muse like Valentine’s Day?

Sometimes. If she has a partner, she will go all out and celebrate the love between them. But if she is single that year, she will celebrate the non-romantic loves of her life: her family and friends.

What are the ways my muse says ‘I love you’ without actually saying it?

Gabrielle is rather tactile in her everyday life, but she will touch her lovers face affectionately to show her love, either running a hand across his cheeks or cupping his chin in her hands. She will engage in cuddling, which she would not normally do when not romantically involved. As she speaks French in her everyday life, she will learn to speak her lover's language trying to learn terms of endearment and learning compliments.

Lovely headcanons for some lovely people

Astoria Greengrass

Astoria’s mother Izabel and Gabrielle’s mother Apolline had been great friends in their youth, and wanted their daughters to be friends too. Sometimes it was a struggle to connect, with them living in different countries, but Astoria and Gabrielle found the best way to be friends was to be penpals. They wrote to each other nearly every week when they were children, and even more frequently as they grew older. They wrote in English to help Gabrielle’s learning of the language. The first letters were frivolous and filled with fantasies and the later letters become much personal.  Astoria was Gabrielle’s first friend, and now they are older, she is glad they are able to meet in person, as well as send their letters.

Flora Carrow

Flora was one of the few people who did not see her as anyone’s little sister, or a little girl, and for that Gabrielle was entirely grateful. Her entire life she was known as Fleur Delacour’s little sister, and was treated like she was a fragile and breakable doll, and Flora didn’t see her that way. Due to the professional setting of their first meeting, Flora was able to see Gabrielle as a colleague and not someone she knew through an older sibling. They started their professional relationship as equals and thanks to the way Flora treated Gabrielle, Gabrielle began to feel a little more grown up, both in her work life and her own life too. After Flora’s work was done, Gabrielle gave her an open-ended invitation to visit her in Paris any time she liked.

Nerissa Avery

Weeks after they first met, Gabrielle decided to send Nerissa a gift to ease her own guilt of not knowing her cousin for all these years. Gabrielle went through all of her family photos for any images of their mutual grandparents, a few of the Delacour family, some extremely old images of the Delacours through the early 20th Century and one or two of Nerissa’s mother and Gabrielle’s aunt Ellery. She had them copied and bound in a photo album, and she wrote the dates and occasions inside the album. Gabrielle wrote up what she knew of the Delacour family and added it to the front of the album, giving Nerissa a piece of their family history.

Nathaniel Avery

When Gabrielle first found out that Nate was her cousin, she was extremely happy even before she met him. With the exception of her father, and her brother-in-law, Gabrielle’s entire family was female. When Ness told her about Nate, her heart-warmed. Not only did she have more family to get to know, she had a male cousin to get to know. Her father had always wanted more men in the family, and now Jacques had his wish. To get to know him, Gabrielle sent Nate a letter introducing herself, and her family to him, thinking it would be a less formal and less nerve-wracking way for them to communicate before they officially met in person.

Olivia Flint

With Olivia visiting Gabrielle so much in France, Gabrielle once decided it was high time for her learn the language just in case Olivia ever needed anything and Gabrielle wasn’t there. Although she doesn't like to admit it, she knows the French aren’t open to speaking English. Gabrielle spoke English well, and she thought that would it be easy to teach someone French, and she would be the perfect person to do it. Instead of exploring the city, Gabrielle made Olivia sit in her apartment to learn French for the afternoon. Gabrielle, as it turns out, wasn’t a great teacher, and the two girls descended into fits of laughter soon after the lesson started.

Drink

The parties at Beauxbatons were well organised, well attended, and kept well under the radar of the staff. At the very least once a month a general invitation would spread around the senior classes and down to a select few younger students. Gabrielle attended her first set of parties by invitation of her friends with older siblings still at school. Alcohol flowed freely at the parties, and it was here that Gabrielle first tasted redcurrant rum. The sweet liquid soon became her favourite drink. Not everywhere served the beverage, but Gabrielle ordered it when she could. When at a loose end in her apartment, she would try to invent new cocktails with the flavoured rum, concocting weird and wonderful new drinks with, some just as delicious as the rum and some that weren’t so great. Gabrielle always looks forward to her birthday when she knows she will receive at least one or two bottles of rum as a gift.

Big sister

Gabrielle thought she would have been an excellent big sister, but it wasn’t meant to be. Her birth was complicated and Apolline was told under no uncertain terms there would be no more children. No matter how often she begged for younger siblings, her parents refused her. She would have loved her baby brother or sister with all her heart, would have taught them all of the secrets of the Estate, and would have taught them all the fun spells when she was old enough. Since it was not meant to be to for her to a biological big sister, she became an adopted one, showering younger students at Beauxbatons with the love she would have shown a sibling. If ever in need of advice, help with an assignment or a shoulder to cry on, younger students knew they could come to Gabrielle and she would help them in whatever way she could.

Perception

Gabrielle's perception of the world was not one steeped in reality. Living an admittedly charmed and protected life made her naïve and oblivious to other people’s struggles. She was often tactless and said things that made her sound stupid. She assumed that everyone lived in the same manner as her family, and had the advantages that she had. She saw the world with rose tinted glasses and became upset when things weren’t as perfect as she wanted them to be. She wasn’t a bad person, she just didn't know anything apart from her closed off life. Being educated at Beauxbatons didn’t help with her worldview as the recent world events and Wizarding War weren’t taught in the curriculum and wouldn’t be taught until at least 10 years after Gabrielle graduated. She saw things more clearly as she grew older and was exposed to lives and experiences of her friends and her new colleagues. She sometimes still said stupid things, but doesn't everyone?

Darkness

The darkness could bring all sorts of ghouls and spooks for some people, but not for Gabrielle. It was not something that scared her, it was something brought fun and happiness to her life. There was nothing she enjoyed more than sneaking out of her room to sleep under the stars on a warm evening. Her Papa would carry her back to her room to make sure she had a decent night’s sleep. In the dark, she and her Beauxbaton roommate Esme would whisper secrets to each other and giggle about the day’s gossip. She first found out Nerissa was her cousin in her darkened Paris apartment and that meant she had a new family member to have fun with.

Sugar

Multiple times in her life Gabrielle tried to cut sugar out of her diet. Usually before a crash no-sugar diet, she would have heard snarky comments from people around her. Gabrielle, your skin doesn’t look great, what have you been eating? Oh, you look as if you have gained the Beauxbaton Belly. Every time, she thought herself ugly, certainly not pretty and perfect as Fleur, that she was putting her family to shame, and the only way she would be pretty again would be to cut sugar out her diet. She would cut out all fruits, all sweets and chocolate and anything she deemed unhealthy from her meals. But Gabrielle had a sweet tooth and would crave sugary treats after a week of her crazy diet. She would make a big batch of cupcakes or would spend all of her bezants on treats at the bakery and she would binge for days.

Lake

Gabrielle’s fear of water began with the Black Lake at Hogwarts. She had never learned to swim and waking up in the lake not knowing her surroundings and being unable to get herself to safety scared her more than anything in the world. Her fear of water diminished slightly as she got older. She could dip her toes in the ocean, she could have a quick bath, and she very nearly dove into the Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel Fountain before chickening out. But Gabrielle could never bring herself to visit a lake. France had some beautiful Lakes, but Gabrielle declined invitation after invitation to tour them when friends and family took their vacations. It seemed rude on Gabrielle’s part, but her boggart took the form of her being trapped under a lake with no reason. She would rather decline an invitation than have a panic attack in company.

Headcanon Deux

Gabrielle was scared of Hogwarts. No matter the kindness shown to her by the students, there had been so much for her to fear when she visited in 1995: moving staircases taking her where she didn’t need to be, stone gargoyles towering over her, children used as pieces in a game. But the thing that scared her the most at Hogwarts was that her sister could not save her from everything. Until then, Fleur had been Gabrielle’s protector, someone for the young girl to idolise. Fleur would wipe her tears after a fall, would chase any unsavoury boys from the Estate away, would be the only person to chase fairies in the garden with her. But when someone else helped her out of the Hogwarts Black Lake during the Second Task, Gabrielle’s world seemed to fall apart. Her infallible sister had her limits and Hogwarts showed that to Gabrielle, making her question her entire relationship with Fleur. Even decades later when she returned to Hogwarts for a trivial work matter, the school gave her the shivers until she gave herself a stern good talking to, to remind herself she was an adult now and there was nothing to be scared of, not anymore.

  • The Ocean

The first time Gabrielle set eyes on the ocean was in 1999 during a summer visit to her sister’s cottage in England. The Delacour Estate was located outside of Paris, no-where near the sea, and the Delacour family vacationed in-land, preferring to visit mountainous, cultural, and historical destinations rather than beach-side locations. Her first few toe dips were hesitant and full of dread. The waves reminded her too much of the Black Lake at Hogwarts, a body of water that filled her with such fear that she could not even hear the name without tearing up like a child. But as the summer went on, she forced herself to the water, deciding that aged 13 she was much too old to compare this pretty beach and ocean with the stagnant cold water of the Black Lake. Each day, she went further and further until she dared herself to dive in completely, head first, until she was submerged. She had never learned to swim and kept to the shallows so she did not need to. She floated slightly enjoying the water until she felt cold. Gabrielle would not swim in the ocean often, but would enjoy the occasional beach day with her sister, and eventually her nieces and nephew when she visited the Cottage.

  • Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea was not something that Gabrielle partook in or truly understood until she was in her twenties, and she split her time between Paris, working for the Ministère des Affaires Magiques de la France, and wherever in England her role as Ambassador took her. Her treat of choice was usually coffee and croissant, but when she trained to become the French Ambassador to the United Kingdom, she was introduced to a-many English, Scottish and Irish traditions and ways of life. From what she learnt some things she kept in the back of her mind to bring out when she needed to speak with a particular grumpy colleague (conversations about the weather, a complaint about a long queue), others she just did not understand (why did her new colleagues apologise for such trivial things), and some things she just loved and introduced to her own life. With its delicate tea pots, tiny sandwiches and more cake than she could eat, Gabrielle just adored afternoon tea. She took afternoon tea at least once a week in a favoured upscale hotel in the city she visited. More often than not, she would add her own twist to the experience subsisting the more traditional tea for a coffee or a glass of champagne.

  • Fashion

Living in the fashion capital of the world did wonders for Gabrielle’s own sense of style. She would only have to look outside of her window at the stunning ladies walking by in their finery to be inspired. She took inspiration from what the muggles on the street wore, spending many a weekend filling her wardrobe with new purchases; Chanel, Mugler, Dior. Items from each designer hung in her ever-expanding closet. Gabrielle had been dressed in the best since the moment she had been born, that wasn’t going to change just because she grew older and dressed herself. Gabrielle wanted everyone around her to have the best too. If a former classmate asked to borrow a fitted dress, a hat for the races, or a designer belt Gabrielle would insist she keep it. If a colleague from the Ministère asked her advice on what to get his girlfriend for a birthday, she would go with him to purchase the perfect cashmere scarf. If a friend asked her to go wedding dress shopping, she would find it a great honour. Gabrielle adored dressing herself, and others, and enjoyed seeing the changes in fashion as the seasons and years passed, and would update her wardrobe accordingly.

  • Literature

All of her life, Gabrielle had been told she was pretty, so beautiful, that she would never have to worry because she would have no trouble finding herself a rich respectable husband who could take of her. But Gabrielle did not want that. She wanted to be like the women she read about in her storybooks. She wanted to be clever and wily like Milady de Winter, brave and loyal as Éponine Thénardier, not someone to married off at her parent’s will. She wanted to be someone who could support herself. The women in her books had their own sense of agency, something Gabrielle desired and admired. Her books showed her a more satisfying life than being just a prize for a pureblood wizard. When she had read through the collection of books at her parents' home and the Beauxbatons library, she frequented the muggle library near her home. The librarians were all too happy to recommend muggle titles and authors she had never heard of. She spent her summers reading and rereading Gustave Flaubert, Jules Vern, Charles Baudelaire, too many to recount, and when she spent time in England she sought of the best English authors, seeking out the great heroines of English fiction to learn from.

Stars, featuring Lochness

Gabrielle could name most of the stars in the sky. She could rattle off constellation names as easy as reciting family members, and got overly excited when a shooting star soared across the sky. The day Dennis told her that she could name a star after a loved one, she was ecstatic and went about doing it for everyone in her family and for her friends (birthdays, Christmases or just because). For Nerissa, Gabrielle named two stars. The first after Nerissa, given to her for her birthday, the second she named after Zachariah, the cousin Gabrielle would never know and the brother loved dearly by Nerissa. At first, Gabrielle thought perhaps she had overstepped the mark with the gift, and hoped that it wouldn’t ruin the newly formed family relationship between her and Nerissa. After weeks of changing her mind, Gabrielle sent the gift, attaching a note with the star certificate: One more star in the sky to shine bright.

1: Night sky, requested by Bellamy

Gabrielle thought the night sky was the prettiest thing she had ever seen. Whether she was sitting in her parent’s garden gazing at the moon after midnight, or studying the stars through a telescope in her Astronomy class, it fascinated her. If she couldn’t sleep, she would take a blanket outside and stare at the sky naming stars until she fell asleep. Everything was more romantic at night. She had her first kiss under the stars, she accepted her fiancé's marriage proposal bathed in moonlight, and she would have held her wedding day at midnight if there hadn’t been so many young children in attendance.

2: French cuisine, requested by Ginny

Gabrielle collected recipes, storing them in a leather-bound notebook, which she magically extended when she ran out of pages. She collected recipes from favourite restaurants, friends' parties, boyfriend’s parents’ dinner tables, anywhere that she ate and loved the dish, she asked for the recipes to recreate at home. French cuisine was, of course, her speciality (no-one could refuse her Onion Soup), but there were a few other dishes in there too: Yorkshire Pudding from England (from Mrs. Weasley), spinach and ricotta ravioli from Italy, the perfect Dutch stroopwafel. Gabrielle would edit the recipes every time she made the dish, adding a new ingredien or which guest had loved or hated it. Her apartment nearly always smelled of pastry, soup or chicken as she spent most of her time at home preparing a dish or two.

3. Mend, requested by Harry

Gabrielle was wasteful, as she was never taught to mend anything after it broke, everything was replaced with a brand-new item. A broken doll was never returned patched up, a tear in her uniform meant a new order placed with the tailors. Gabrielle’s parents wanted the best for their daughter, and best in their eyes meant new. She never had a favourite toy, dress or pair of shoes as they were always replaced when they had a small fault or Gabrielle’s whims changed. It made her rather spoiled as she demanded new toys and clothing when she became bored. She would even go so far to break things herself if her parents were hesitant to buy a new item. As an adult, Gabrielle changed her wardrobe every season, buying new clothing almost every time she went into the fashion quarter in Paris.

Two I added myself, because why not?

4. Pets

Gabrielle insisted that the Delacour Estate was filled with animals. Growing up, she had a beautiful horse, three dachshund pups, two owls and various small farm animals that were looked after by the Estate staff. Most of her pets were named for the characters of Les Troise Mousquetaires, one of the very few muggle books that Gabrielle owned and reread. The dachshunds were Athos, Porthos and Aramis, one of the owls Milady and her horse was d'Artagnan. By the time Gabrielle moved to Paris, two of her dachshunds had passed away, only Aramis came with her, and there wasn’t space for the horse in the city. Aramis welcomed Gabrielle home with wet kisses and it made those first few lonely months in the city bearable for her.

5. Friendship

The girls at Beauxbatons were fast friends, loving each other as sisters and in some cases lovers. They never fought over a boy’s attention and small squabbles were minor and usually over by lunchtime. Gabrielle and her friends supported each other in everything they did, from helping each other with a rather difficult assignment to finding the perfect ribbon to match their eyes. After graduation, the girls created a network, helping each other with their careers: an invitation to an important function here, an introduction to a CEO there. Gabrielle would not have made it in her position of Ambassador without the support of her Beuxbaton girls.
