Task 49

It started with a kiss. Whitney Collins had promised herself that she wouldn't date, especially under the circumstances of her daughter's conception and her unfortunate marriage. But that had all changed one night.  It must have been the full moon, long rumored to affect people's sanity.  Whatever the cause, Whitney had made the bad decision to forgo the apple cider in favor of something much harder for the evening. As she entered her favorite club, breezing past the bouncer who was diligently checking identification and the guest list, Whitney was caught up in the enormity of the situation. Everything was crafted in mind of Halloween and fall in general, from the glowing orange strobe lights to the spooky music to the orange and black drinks served at the bar.

Whitney, dressed as a sexy witch, strode over to the bar and requested a pumpkin martini. It sounded disgusting, but then, she had thought the same thing of pumpkin eggnog, which she had ultimately ended up loving.  Whitney jumped as a hand was placed on her shoulder. She whirled around, nearly falling off of her seat. She was prepared to demand who this person thought they were, but when she saw the handsome face before her, she decided to forgive and forget.  Ultimately, the handsome stranger asked her to dance. At the end of the night, he kissed her, and something in that kiss made Whitney realize just how lonely she had been, the cliche aside.  One date couldn't hurt.  She knew better than to take him home, especially since she had a baby there with her nanny.  It wouldn't lead to anything more. One date, and that was all.

Their date, oddly enough, was at the local pumpkin patch.  Admittedly, Whitney had a great time, but at the end of the night, she still turned him down for a second date.  She wasn't ready for anything yet..just a kiss, maybe a date, maybe nothing. As she returned home, the spark of the kiss still dancing upon her lips, Whitney relieved the nanny and sat in the nursery, watching her daughter sleep. She smiled softly to herself.  Her baby was all she needed for now. It was all she wanted, and no stranger could change that.
