Varga nods in agreement, ”I will be guarding your back from above, a tactic advantage point, just in case. We lead them into a pit surrounded by three walls of concrete. Cover the exits from behind you once you draw them in.” That seemed like a safe enough plan. Varga orders the death dealers to exit the castle then. He follows Eve out of the protection of the coven as well. Just for reassurance he places his hand on her shoulder and gives her a serious nod as his eyes narrow. A look he’d give a fellow soldier, a sense of comradery. ”You are not alone.” Parts ways with her in order to take a position out of sight and scent.
Not wanting the Lycans to know he was near, he did his best to conceal his existence. Letting her draw them in, watching Eve like a hawk. Eyes and ears open for that familiar prey.
Messy, was not even a concern that crossed the death dealer's mind. They kill those wolves all the time, so it was a scene they were all accustomed to. So he excused himself and went to change into his hunting clothes which were less restrictive and much easier to move in. Simple black cloth, he didn’t feel the need to wear any armor. Not even when it was an appropriate time period did he feel the need to do so since becoming a vampire. Armed himself with lethal weapons and goes where he is needed.
The planning going on with Eve was what Varga was most interested in learning. ”I wonder if it would be better for us to push them out of their comfort zone by dangling you to bring them there.” Varga approached Eve on his own. Looking down over her shoulder.
He was willing to let Eve share her experience and use her abilities and natural talents. Obviously she’s more experienced than he, in Lycans behavior. Not just running from but being one herself. However the only one who could trump her in experience is her mother. Selene has been doing this for a lot longer than her daughter. But she will be biased and overprotective. Her judgment could be clouded.
When she said she would go with the scouts, Varga turned to Eve and bowed. ”They will be yours to command.” He will make the orders to give her jurisdiction. Varga’s death dealers would view his word as law and not disobey him. They were well trained by him. ”You will have no issues.”
To do the same thing over and over again and expect different results is the definition of insanity. Selene must know this and so should Eve by now. The daughter coming and going like this was not sustainable. And the fact that Varga felt the need to remind them both this out loud was annoying to him. Dealing with death everyday, it’s all a risk.
It felt like he was running in a circle with these women, the same thing over and over again. He’d never felt mentally exhausted before now. So much he wanted to try and overpower them by making demands and saying enough is enough. Eve was stating the obvious.
He gets up off the wall and walks straight towards the Elder. ”We could send scouts ahead to get a sense of the numbers to be more prepared as well as locating the best attack point. Ideally in nature with only one way in and one way out.”
He could be someone who doesn’t pay attention by keeping his eyes and head faced away. Looking down at the floor with his eyes shut. Making those around him not care about his presence was something he was a pro at. Silent and still, almost half asleep appearing. ’Leaving again? She just got here. Was that her only expectation.’ Thinking not saying out loud. ’I feel bad for her. To have to deal with this.’
Eve may not know her mother as well as she thinks she does. They must have a bond but they can’t read each other's minds. Vampires aren’t often complex to begin with. Rather dully predictable. Dogs run in packs, they aren’t a threat otherwise. Also easy to predict.
The new elder is more easily dealt with than the mother death dealer. His eyes snap open when he’s spoken too, rises his head and stands up straight folding his hands behind him. ”I believe it’s better to be on the proactive side for once. Rather than wait for them to attack when their numbers are larger like last time.”
Varga wanted to observe elder Selene’s reaction for his own selfish reasons. And so he followed Eve out of the room and towards Selene’s own private quarters. When the guard informs them that she was not present. ”Where is she? Her daughter is looking for her.” Then he informs Varga, ”In the training room.”
There were no sessions today that means she’s alone. And he wanted to laugh at the idea of her being told things with weapons close by. Varga would be sure to stay out of the line of fire. Keep himself composed and barely noticeable if he had to. ”Thank you.” As they depart he leans against the wall at the entrance and folds his arms across his chest. Acting bored and detached, so as to let the two of them appear to have privacy. Eve could greet her mother by herself.
Varga wanted to laugh at Eve’s ‘duty before feelings’ remark. How little does she know her own mother? Selene killed an elder vampire and her own sire. She was duty bound to protect. But she chose Eve’s father, her lover instead. Selene was all about surviving now in Varga’s eyes. She only agreed to become an elder in the first place because she’s not dumb. Being awarded rank is easier than living on the run as a traitor.
”You may do as you see fit.” Varga smirks and fights the urge to roll his eyes in front of her. ”Would you like my presence when you tell her?” This was her life and honestly Varga only cared about his coven’s survival and nothing more. Stepping side he gestures with his hand out for Eve to take the lead.
When she spoke of ‘one thing that concerns her’ he stood quite to let her expand on it. Knowing full well she would and he would listen to her intently. “If their numbers are increasing, the obvious choice is to go on a killing spree. You don’t have the ability to kill them all by yourself. But with an army of death dealers we could draw them into a trap. Using you as bait.” He didn’t care if Selene didn't like the idea. As long as Eve does.
Though it would be hard if not impossible for Varga to excuse the absence of so many vampires from the castle walls. “If you don’t wish for your mother to know, we’d have to set up a story in which would cause the absence of such force from here. When Lycans attack we are duty bound to kill them.” Varga was hoping she could draw the same obvious conclusion. “Though deceiving Selene would be nearly impossible. While I do think she would be a great use in a fight. If we pose this as a way to get rid of what aids you it’s likely she may prove forgiving.”
”So they are trying to evolve.” He rolled his eyes, ”With experimentation.” It seemed as if Eve was leaving out important bits of information and Varga would be of no help to her if she wasn’t forthright. Then he nods his head at her words. ”What can I do for you?” He knew she would be less likely to go to her mother for anything. Probably having to do with her age group. Rebelling and what not. But Varga would help her if she wanted it that is.
He steps closer when given permission and nods at her words turning to look around the room, to try and not focus on her. Making sure Eve doesn’t become too uncomfortable. Even though he normally doesn’t care about such things. But there was something wrong with the feeling in the room. “Killing lycans is always a good excuse.” He wouldn’t mind if she were doing it more until they perished completely. With his hands held behind his back as always, a soldier stance. “What were the non obvious reasons?” He stops a foot away and glances down at what she is doing with the map.
