Vincent Valentine I's time to save the world.

About twenty-five to thirty years before Final Fantasy VII, Vincent was a member of the Turks, then known as Shinra Electric Power Company "Department of Administrative Research". When he was assigned to supervise the Jenova Project in Nibelheim, he fell in love with a scientist named Lucrecia Crescent, an assistant to Gast Faremis. When he discovered her link to his deceased father, Grimoire Valentine, Lucrecia distanced herself from Vincent and entered a relationship with her associate, Professor Hojo. Lucrecia became pregnant and Hojo planned to use the fetus as a test subject for the Jenova Project.

Vincent objected to the use of humans—especially Lucrecia—as test subjects. In the interest of science Lucrecia proceeded with the treatment and became sick as a result. Vincent confronted Hojo in the Shinra Manor's underground laboratory, and amid the heated argument Hojo shot Vincent in the chest. Hojo used Vincent's half-dead body as test subject for experiments involving strengthening the endurance of the human body and metamorphosis, enabling the body to transform into various monstrous forms. While Hojo made Vincent's body stronger, the experiments failed because Vincent, though still living, remained in a death-like state.

As a last resort to rehabilitate him, Lucrecia infused the Chaos-tainted Mako into his broken-down body. The procedure worked, as Vincent's body, due to Hojo's previous experiments, was strong enough to become a vessel for Chaos, a mysterious entity with incredible power. However, Chaos was uncontrollable, and was only stopped when the Protomateria—a one-of-a-kind Materia—had a reaction to it. The Protomateria, discovered by Grimoire alongside Chaos, was theorized by Lucrecia to have been created by the Planet "out of necessity as a means to control Chaos and prolong its own inevitable fate", and was placed in Lucrecia's laboratory.

Lucrecia put the Protomateria inside Vincent's chest, enabling Vincent to control Chaos to a degree. Due to Hojo's experiments and the combination with Chaos, Vincent acquired superhuman abilities, such as amplified strength, speed, endurance, agility, regeneration, shape-shifting, and other powers. Vincent awakened on the operating table and responded to his modified body with anguish and rage.

I'm just a sucker for pain.

Believing himself responsible for Lucrecia's illness after her son Sephiroth's birth, Vincent locked himself within a coffin in the Shinra Mansion basement, where he slept mostly undisturbed for over twenty years to atone for his "sins". He constantly relived his nightmare as a punishment for his inability to stop Lucrecia from submitting to Hojo's experiment on her unborn baby.

Having saved his world twice after awakening by Cloud and the others, Vincent decided to try to make his life away from Gaia and away from the nightmares that still plagued him. Immortality in front of him, he found his way to Earth, where he works as a chef and a part time hitman.

The Galian Beast is Vincent's primary transformation, and can be triggered at any time. Taking the form of something resembling a giant blue werewolf, he is granted the ability to shoot fireballs out of its palms and boost his strength and endurance. His special attacks are Beast Flare and Berserk Dance.

The other transformation is into the legendary Chaos, harbinger of death and destruction. Unlike the Galian Beast, Chaos cannot be controlled until Vincent is in possession of the Protomateria, and will kill anyone and anything in it's way, including friends. Vincent's main gift is his unbelievable strength and agility, and the assistance of his prized, triple-barreled gun, Cerberus. His abilities range mostly to his shape shifting, where his most powerful abilities are unleashed.

Chaos can keep Vincent's regular weapons, but also obtains the ability to summon a ultra-powerful gun known as Death Penalty, shooting enormous lasers out of it rather than simply bullets. While not as powerful, Vincent can also maintain three other forms; Red Cape, Death Gigas, and Hellmasker.

Red Cape: Mainly used for evasive maneuvers; Vincent can temporarily meld his entire body into the form of the crimson cape and fly around, firing off several rounds from Cerberus at the same time.

Death Gigas: While this may look familiar in movies, Vincent does indeed take the form of Frankenstein in this transformation. While not swift and agile, this brute makes up for in strength, and can take a lot more damage than even Chaos. He attacks with Gigadunk and Livewire.

Hellmasker: Also familiar in movies is Vincent's rendition of Jason the Killer, with a rotating head and a mega-powerful chainsaw at his disposal. Not too fast, and not too slow to attack, Hellmasker is a vicious attacker, able to land several blows with the chainsaw at once on an enemy. Special attacks are, but are not limited to, Splattercombo and Nightmare.

Though there is a limit to how often this could occur, Vincent has an innate ability to restore and regenerate his cells, healing any wounds which may otherwise be life-threatening. It is not always reliable, and not often-occurring. Despite his monstrous form, he is still half-human.

Main Connections
Wanda Maximoff Scarlet Chaos

Two science experiments gone horribly right. Both used as weapons, both experimented on and both looking to find their place in the world. She serves the light while he works from the shadows to make sure there's light to be had. When it came to them finding each was just a matter of magic.

Damian Wayne True Chaos

The night served the two of them, servants of the shadows both. It seemed only right that they find each other, found comfort in one another. He did his best to show that humanity still did exist inside of him and he showed why it was worth protecting.

Captain Christmas

Dec 6th 2018 12:53

Every year on 6th December Steve celebrated an old German tradition. Why? Because he found it was a lovely idea. Because it was the perfect way to get himself and his friends into the right mood for Christmas. Because he liked it to make those, who had a spot in his heart, smile.
Very early in the morning the soldier sneaked into the house, being as quiet as even possible. Checking that his friend was still full asleep he smiled. Time to spread some magic. Right next to the bed he placed some candies, chocolate and some home-baked cookies.

Next to the boot filled with candies, Steve placed a small box, a sign of his love for this man. Maybe a bit too cheesy and not the right gift from one man to the other.. but he wanted that Vincent got something special.

After that he sneaked quietly out of the building again, leaving just a note behind

"Merry St. Nicholas. Greetings - Steve"

“What do they want this time?” The city’s brawler droned in impatience, airing her apparent opposition in tones of disapproval and dejection. She accelerated this display of protest by taking it out on the bar counter; the washcloth bound around her fist punished to the thread, as it rutted into phantom alcohol stains and removed paint. “It’s a resource run, Tifa. I’ll only be gone a few days—” If Cloud was attempting to quell her concerns, his words achieved little by outcome. He stood with his back to her, checking his equipment that would subsequently be assigned to Fenrir for temporary keeping. Rigorous scrubbing ceased, before Tifa looked to the ex-soldier to whom she had previously addressed. She appeared defeated. Upset, even.

“So they can get it themselves.”

“They can get it themselves.” She stated emphatically, stepping out from behind the bar counter with her arms folded at her chest. “You’re needed here… and besides, you know anything Shinra are after will be to their own benefit.—What exactly is it they want you to get, anyway?” There was still little opportunity for eye contact; perpetually the definition of stoicism, Cloud provided little more than his side profile and the occasional fan of peripheral to acknowledge his companion. “Rhodium.” Brows steepled briefly in confusion, while arms slowly lowered to her sides. “Rhodium?... Do you know how rare that is? It’s almost impossible to find.” The Buster-wielder was atypically silent, but the disapproval was unmistakable in Tifa’s features. “We’re mining the mountains surrounding the Northern cave... Reno seems confident we’ll find some there.”

“Cloud... why are you agreeing to this?”

Tifa was used to his dismissive temperament—it was one of his many behavioural complexities. But when he refused to be forthcoming about his endeavours, it introduced the insecurity that Cloud simply did not trust Tifa, because he was evidently keeping things from her. She had noticed changes in his behaviour over the past few months, but had said nothing. Cloud had issues he was struggling with just like Tifa did, and it was no right of hers to impose. They had all endured so much in the past and the reconstruction of their hometown had taken up a lot of time and energy; it wasn’t any wonder Cloud appeared a silhouette of his former self. Not even Marlene or Denzel could get a smile out of him these days, and they were like his own flesh and blood.

Something had changed in him—and like a tangled branch, it grew and grew to exhaustive measures.

Cloud was fading.

“If I’m not at the square in the next five minutes, they’ll assume I’m passing on the job…” His voice grew distant. Sheathing the legacy between his shoulder-blades, he proceeded towards the front door with weighted footsteps—Tifa quietly shadowing him. “... I’ll see you all soon.” Head turned with sweeping eye contact, but before Tifa could reach for his arm to stall him further, he had stepped through the door and mounted Fenrir. The silent blink of a PHS device caught Tifa’s periphery, as it lay abandoned on the corner of a bench nearby. “Oh Cloud, you’ve forgotten your—” She muttered breathlessly, whilst swiping it from the table. However, the moment she stumbled outdoors, nothing but dust plumes scrambling away from distant tyre tracks were present.

“Cloud... ”

‘It’s there... I know you feel it—twisting inside of you…’ the voice vibrated against perspiring flesh like an echo, shattering dreamscape and plunging her into darkness. She thrashed around tirelessly within the cotton trappings of bedlinen, as she unfurled from the cradle of an open palm; almost instantly, her bones began to crack—every snap of enamel reverberated against hearing receptors, but screams were silenced by the emergence of ebony cloth that slowly threaded itself around her mouth. Every bone in her body was crushed, and wheezed breaths were expelled from constricted lungs, due to the compromised status of respiratory processes. She was dying.

And she was right back there again at the Nibel Reactor, eye-to-eye with the one that had harboured an insatiable hatred towards human life. His shape and colours alternated between two very different projections—of someone she loved, and of someone she feared. The projection palpitated until it settled upon the outline of Sephiroth, and as he leaned in to her inanimate form, she could feel the scorching impressions of the Masamune sword pass through her centre. Steel splitting through tendon and cartilage until she was entirely impaled—but when her eyes re-opened, Cloud was on the other end of the blade.

Blood suffused through gloved digits, as she reached out for his hand. Cloud stood motionless. The colours rapidly fading from his skin—until he was gone.

Tifa had awoken understandably rattled that morning. It was approaching several weeks since she had last seen Cloud, and without his PHS, there was no way of reaching him remotely. She was angry—furious, even. How could he behave so irresponsibly? However, it was her concern for him that ultimately dissolved her anger and was instead directed at those that had hired him. The Turks.

“I’m going to go pay some old friends a visit. Denzel—you’re in charge until I get back, okay?” Tifa announced. “Yes, ma’am!” The eldest countered gleefully, watching the martial artist pace down the hallway until she stopped outside Cloud’s bedroom. Everything was exactly the way he had left it—indications he had every intention on returning home to his family. Frowning in privacy, Tifa hesitantly closed the door behind her and jogged down the stairs. The bar door was already parting when she finally dismounted the stairwell.

Her heart sank.

She knew it wasn’t Cloud.
